Bittercreek Wilderness Area

60,000 roadless, but accessible acres, the Bittercreek wilderness area boasts an abundance of prairie wildlife including mule deer, antelope, sharp-tail grouse, sage grouse, and prairie dogs.  This prairie wilderness area is a perfect site to enjoy bird watching with an amazing variety of predators and raptors, in particular, prairie falcons, ferruginous hawks and golden eagles.

Fort Peck Indian Reservation: Wolf Point

The Fort Peck Indian Reservation is the second-largest reservation in Montana. Fort Peck is home to 6,800 Assiniboine and Yanktonai Sioux; however, because of unscrupulous land dealings in the late 1800's, the reservation is co-owned by non-Indians. The tribe hosts a small number of activities open to travelers interested in tribal life. The annual Red Bottom Day celebrations (held every June in Frazer, west of Wolf Point), the Wadopana Pow Wow (early August), or the Wild Horse Stampede rodeo in Wolf Point, the oldest rodeo in Montana.
